Be a Community investor in Once Incarcerated…Once INc,,. (Once IN). Once INcarcerated...Once INc... is a 501c (3) organization founded and directed by Tracie Bernardi and LaResse Harvey. We are a resource for people with our lived experience.
A 45-minute car ride helped us realize that WE NEEDED a Once IN. We needed a place where we could talk about our experiences, which intimately intertwined with our goals for success. We needed a place that could help us navigate reentry throughout our lives, not just the first two years after release. We needed a place where WE ARE SAFE from societal stigma.
Once Incarcerated Anonymous (OIA), was born out of that NEED. We can tell our stories WITHOUT having to explain why. We understand the need to crack jokes at a serious moment to ease the pain. We understand the need to be quiet and alone at times because LIFE gets literally too noisy.
Our goal is to raise $50,000 to support Once Incarcerated Anonymous and Participatory Defense (Justice Advocacy), two programs of at Once Incarcerated…Once INc… that has helped over 75 Justice Impacted families since August 2019!
In a world filled with Implicit Bias and Stereotyping everything from Race to cultural behaviors (Goth). People living with criminal records deserve a REAL safe place, where WE can go to talk about where WE have been; where WE hope to go; and where WE are. This group is about recognizing the roots of our trauma, stomping out negative messages, healing, peer support, and knowing WE are not alone.
We will learn together to rewrite our stories so that WE use them impactfully and honestly for positive change. Together WE can prevent recidivism. Together WE can change the culture of our society to stop generational INCARCERATION AND promote NO ENTRY for ALLchildren. WE will not hide our truths,. We share our truths to end mass incarceration, while addressing institutionalization.
Tracie and LaResse will be posting
